ASPA is joining with the North Pole Economic Development Corporation and Mt Mckinley Bank to have skijoring at the North Pole Winter Championships!
When: Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8th at 11am. Mandatory race meeting for all drivers & parents of minors at 10:15 on Saturday. Entry forms must be signed by racer or parent prior to racing. Bib pick-up & check-in by 10:30 each day.
Where: Morning Star Park, 2945 Monk Court, North Pole Alaska (corner of Badger & Hurst)
Distance: 1.8 mile or 5.5 mile
Classes:
1. Long Class/Senior; 5.5 mile; 1, 2 or 3 dog
2. Short Class/Senior; 1.8 mile; 1 dog
3. Short Class/Junior; 1.8 mile; 1 dog
Purse/Prizes: attendance at awards ceremony is required
Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each division to be announced.
Cost & Registration:
$25 for 2-day Race
Race sign-up and fee payment required by Thursday March 5th. No race day entries will be accepted.
Two ways to sign-up:
Option #1: Go to the ASPA Store under Trail Donations, choose “other amount” and pay $25 via paypal, AND send an email to paulinetise@gmail.com with driver name, distance & dog name(s) NO LATER than 6pm Wednesday, March 4th. You will have to fill out & sign a entry form on Saturday, March 7th before you will be allowed to race.
Option #2: Come on out to the Race Bib Draw!! At the Leaf & Bean Internet Café at 3340 Badger Road, North Pole, Alaska, Thursday, March 5th, 6pm. Fill out your entry form and pay your fees and save time on Saturday morning.
Bib Draw/Start Order:
The bib draw will take place Thursday evening at the Leaf & Bean. The class order will be as follows below. Start order for Saturday determined by random draw on Thursday night. Start order on Sunday will be in order of finish from Saturday with no separation by number of dogs in the long class. Juniors & Seniors in the short class will not be mixed by finish order. Bib pick-up on each morning by 10:30.
Class Order/Saturday – First team on the line at 11am:
1. Long Class/Senior: 3-dog
2. Long Class/Senior: 2-dog
3. Long Class/Senior: 1-dog
Ten minute break
4. Short Class/Senior: 1-dog
5. Short Class/Junior: 1-dog
Race Rules and Special Information for Juniors:
Juniors are ages 8-15. They must wear helmets. A parent or guardian must sign the liability waiver/permission on the form and stay on site while the junior is racing. For complete Alaska Skijoring & Pulk Association race rules go to the ASPA Race Rules page.
