Beginners Clinic through The Folk School Saturday November 17

November 8, 2018 by stabbert

We are partnering with The Folk School this year to present the Alaska Skijoring and Pulk Association’s Beginner’s Clinic.  Come learn how to skijor with your dog this winter!  Skijoring is fun for skiers of all skill levels and all breeds of dogs.  We will hold a classroom session in the morning, Saturday November 17, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.  If we get more snow and the trails at Creamer’s Field are usable, we will hold the on-snow session in the afternoon from 2-4 p.m.  If not, the on-snow session will be postponed.

Final race and party Sunday March 25

March 19, 2018 by stabbert

Join us for the Alaska Skijoring and Pulk Association annual spring membership meeting, pizza potluck party and fun race scheduled for Sunday, March 25th at the ADMA Mushers Hall! All ASPA volunteers for this season will be honored, celebrated and thanked! The Volunteer of the Year Award will also be presented.

Race day registration 10-10:30, race meeting 10:45, race start at 11. We’ll eat about noon with a short meeting following lunch.

The race will include distances of 1, 4, 6.2, and 8 miles depending on trail conditions and participant interest. You can run 1, 2, or 3 dog teams. The always exciting and somewhat rowdy LeMans one mile race will start at approximately 11:45 or whenever the last racer returns. Here is a link to the ADMA trail maps, if you have not skijored there before. All turns are clearly marked with the distances.http://sleddog.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/ADMA-FLYER02.pdf

If you aren’t able to race, but still want to join in the fun we can always use race volunteers to help with timing and handling.
To pre-register for the Fun Race or volunteer, contact Molly Yazwinski myazwinski@gmail.com, 455-6604.

The cost is $10 for ASPA members and $15 for non-members. If you pre-register by Saturday March 24th, the cost will be $5 for ASPA members and $10 for non-members. Membership forms are available and we encourage anyone interested in skijoring to join us for the race and pizza party.

The fun race will be followed by a pizza potluck party which will begin about noon, and then by a short membership meeting. ASPA will provide the pizza and drinks. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share.

Hope to see you there!
