Dryland Time Trial June 29

Please join us for our first dryland time trial race at Chena Lakes Flood Control! on June 29

Where: The second red gate on road entering Chena Lakes rec area, it will be on the right side up a gravel hill, we will mark where to turn, there is a parking lot on the other side of the dike.

registration at 8:30-9; race begins at 9:15 am

Note:

We are planning to hold biweekly time trials until Mid August. Also, we would like to ask for volunteers to help with timing, sweeping the course, and standing at turn around points to help guide racers.

Evening fun Race Wednesday March 13

Come out and enjoy the beautiful spring time Creamers Field trails this upcoming Wednesday 13th of March for our annual evening fun race. Registration at 5:30pm in the farmhouse and race begins at 6:15pm. Please email pre-registrations to Chris Van Dyke at fncrv.uaf@gmail.com

Chena Lakes Race Sunday Feb 24

WHEN: Sunday February 24, 2019

WHERE: Chena Lakes Recreation Area

The race will use the Mike Agbaba trail system. There will be 1-mile, 3-mile and 5-mile distances. We will also be having a relay race (1-dog, 1-mile). Meet at the parking area at the end of Lake Park Rd. Registration will start at 10:30 am. Pre-race meeting at 11 am and race start at 11:30 am.

Race fees are $10 if pre-registered by 7 pm Saturday February 23rd. Race-day registration is $15. To pre-register, email Molly Yazwinski at myazwinski@gmail.com. Please provide your name and your dog(s) name(s).

West Ridge Race Sunday February 17

The annual ASPA skijor race on the UAF West Ridge trails will take place on Sunday, February 17 at 11:00AM. This is a very rare opportunity to skijor on some of the best maintained ski trails in Fairbanks.

This year we will again be offering a “No Whiz” option which is a slightly gentler and shorter course that omits the somewhat daunting Big Whizzy.

Race distances are a hair over 3 miles (“No Whiz”,) 4.5 miles or 9 miles. Racers can compete in a one, two or three dog class. As always, beginners are welcome and encouraged to participate!

Registration: 10-10:30AM in the Ski Hut next to the IARC building. Race meeting will be at 10:40AM. Race starts at 11:00AM. No dogs in or around the Ski Hut, please. Stage your teams and park in the lot behind IARC.

Race Fees: $10 if you pre-register by 5:00PM Friday, February 15, $15 on race day. To pre-register, email Kathleen Boyle, kmboyle1720@gmail.com. Half of the entry fees will be donated to the UAF trails club.

If the temperature at the Fairbanks airport is below -15 at 9:00 on race day, the race will be canceled. Please call the hotline 907-45-SKIJOR or 907-457-5456 for updates.

Please be sure to clean up after your animals so we can continue using this venue in the future. And remember, NO DOGS ON THE UAF TRAILS IN THE WINTER!!

ASPA FUN RACE

WHEN: Sunday, February 3, 2019
Registration 12 -12:30 pm
Race start 1 pm

WHERE: Creamer’s Field

DISTANCES: 1/2 mile, 2.7 mile and 6 mile. 1-dog, 2-dog and 3 dog classes.

REGISTRATION: $10 members/$15 non-members. $5 off if you pre-register before 10 pm Saturday Feb 2nd. Email Molly Yazwinski (myazwinski@gmail.com) with your name, dog name(s), and race distance.

VOLUNTEERS: We are in need of people to help with race timing and start/finish logistics. Email Molly if you would like to help out.
