January 30 Trail Tour

January 26, 2011 by stabbert

ASPA will be holding a trail tour this coming Sunday, January 30 We will meet at the parking area on the north side of Ballaine Hill at 1pm. The exact route depends on trail conditions and overflow activity, but expect a 7-10 mile trip. These trails are in good shape. Many parts are wide enough for easy skating although we will likely encounter some narrower trails. One dog or a mellow two dog team is recommended. Anyone wishing to just ski the trail is welcome to join us; no loose dogs, please. If the temperature at the airport (458-3745) is colder than -10 at 9:30 am the event will be re-scheduled.

Please call Sara Tabbert (479 0456) if you have any questions.

Trail Tour Sunday, January 2

December 28, 2010 by stabbert

This weekend’s trail tour will meet on Waterford Road (right hand turn off of Goldstream, about 3.5 miles from the Steese.) The trail begins just before Waterford turns into Molly Road. Park on Molly Road in the pullout around the corner from the trailhead. This trail has some fairly steep sections – it’s a good trail for one dog, and beginners might want to ski it without a dog first.  Connections to the pipeline and other trails make this route as long or as short a tour as participants want. There is some debris in the snow from the rainstorm, so leave your best skis at home. We will meet this week at 1 pm. If you have questions, please call Sara Tabbert at 479 0456. If the temperature at 458-3745 x1113 is colder than -10 degrees as of 9:30 am on Sunday, the event will be canceled.
