The weather has foiled us every weekend in January so far, but. . . . . Let’s meet shortly before 1 pm at the pullout on Ballaine road (approx 3/4 of the way down the hill on the right if you are headed into Goldstream Valley. ) If it is colder than -10 degrees F. at 11:30 that morning (458-3745 ext 1113 weather) we will cancel. We’ll travel a 9 mile loop on various kinds of trails. This is a good route for a mellow two dog team or one strong dog. Encounters with other trail users, overflow, moose, and ungroomed trails are all possible. No loose dogs, please. If you have any questions please contact Sara Tabbert at 479 0456 or stabbert@hotmail.com. You need to be a member of the skijor club to participate.

Trail Tour Sunday – Tanana River
Let’s take a river tour on the Tanana at 1 pm, Sunday March 13. The meeting point will be the “campground” or boat launch off of Chena Pump road. This on the left hand side of Chena Pump, immediately before the road starts to climb up Chena Ridge. Participants can go as far as they want, and bring as many dogs as you feel like running. This is a wide open trail but as always we may encounter snowmachines, dog teams, and all manner of other trail users. Contact Sara Tabbert at 479 0456 or stabbert@hotmail.com with questions.
Saturday trail tour at Birch Hill
For anyone who doesn’t want to participate in a race but might like the chance to skijor at Birch Hill, we are also offering a trail tour this Saturday. After the last racers go out tourers can travel around the trail following the trail markers. The relay event will follow and is open to anyone. However, tourers will likely not be able to participate in the relay unless they make their tour short. The last racers are starting at 10:25 so please be ready to go by 10:30.
no trail tour this weekend
As we have two other club events happening this weekend (and all the trail tour leaders are going to be out running around in the snow on Sunday!) we will not have a tour this weekend. Go enjoy this gorgeous new snow on your favorite trail and we will be back with a group tour next weekend.
