This trail tour will be on the trails on the west side of Ballaine (i.e. those bounded by Goldstream, Ballaine and Sheep Creek) – meet at the end of O’Brien Road a bit before 1:00 PM. My personal cut off for this trail tour is 0 degrees at the airport at 11 AM (as I am tired of winter) – check this page or the list serve for updates.
O’Brien the first left hand turn AFTER Ivory Jack’s, if you are coming from the Ballaine and Goldstream intersections. The Goldstream Lions’ softball fields are on the corner of O’Brien. Take O’Brien all the way to its end – there is a good cul de sac with room for several vehicles.
Note that Goldstream trails are multi-use and expect to encounter everything from moose, snow machiners, dog teams, fat-tire bikers etc. Trails may be somewhat narrow due the recent snow, however generally they are easily ski-jored with skate skis. Route will be generally flat and most of it will be an out and back, with a few variations on the way back to mix it up a bit. It is suitable for beginner ski jorers.
